The Applicant came to Immigration Solutions Lawyers seeking assistant with a requisition she had received on a citizenship application prepared herself. The Applicant had been a client of Immigration Solutions a number of years ago, when the firm took over on a review of a protection visa refused application, and later a Ministerial Intervention request matters which were later successful. Immigration Solutions were able to get a positive result for the client and her family, resulting in their permanent residency.

The Applicant had been living in Australian with her family for a number of years and was applying for Australian Citizenship. The Applicant put forward the initial citizenship application herself and received a requisition questioning the applicants good character. The Applicant sought the help of Immigration Solutions as the team had helped the family in the past.

Immigration Solutions were able to determine that the good character of the applicant was called into question due to debt she had owing to the Commonwealth at the time of application. Immigration Solutions were able to provide extensive submissions and supporting evidence to show that the applicant was of good character and were also able to help her rectifying her financial situation.

The Applicant had made a request to the Debt Management Unit to organise a payment plan for the debts owed to the Commonwealth many years before, however did not complete the entire payment, resulting in the accumulation of more debt.

Immigration Solutions were able to show that the Applicant deeply regrated not paying the debt owed to the Commonwealth, however, this had been due to her limited financial position. The Applicant had taken responsibility for her actions and was trying to organise a payment plan in order to pay back all monies owed to the Commonwealth.

By showing the Applicants intentions of paying back the debt owed and her financial position Immigration Solutions were able to prove that it was outside the control of the applicant and her family.

Immigration Solutions were able to provide the appropriate documentation to illustrate the reasons as to why the Applicant had issues paying back the owed money and show that this was a one off situation and the Applicant did indeed have good character.
