Disclosure and Mitigation Is Key For Successful Citizenship Applications

Having a criminal offence or driving record does not necessarily mean that your Citizenship Application will be refused. With appropriate disclosure, explanation and supporting documents it is possible to mitigate certain issues and result in successful citizenship applications.

Recently a client came to Immigration Solutions Lawyers (ISL) with what looked like straightforward citizenship applications by conferral.

However upon receiving a copy of the applicants driving record there appeared numerous traffic offences that had not been previously disclosed by the client. The team at ISL consequently worked to produce a character submission to mitigate the driving offences in accordance with Section 21H of Citizenship Act.

The Client was subsequently invited to sit a citizenship exam, which he passed. Now the client’s application has essentially been approved with his character successfully mitigated.

The team at ISL have an abundance of experience in providing the Department with high-quality character submissions for a range of visa and citizenship applications. As always we advise clients and prospective clients that the key to successful applications is disclosure and mitigation.
