Employee sponsorship can be difficult to navigate without the help of an immigration lawyer. An Australian organisation approached ISL looking to sponsor of their existing employees on a permanent work visa. The employee had held a Subclass 457 visa that was about to expire. ISL met with both the Applicant and Sponsor to discuss the options available to them. ISL determined that the applicant would need to fulfil the requirements of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) to be eligible for the Subclass 186 Visa. Once the Applicant received his IELTS results, it was obvious that he would not be able to meet the English requirement.  The Applicant sat the IELTS test several times, however he was never successful in obtaining the required level of English.  ISL met with the Applicant and Sponsor to discuss their next possible option. ISL, the sponsor and the applicant determined that if the Applicant could re-apply for a Subclass 457 visa, this would allow the Applicant the ability to remain in Australia for an additional 4 years and develop the Applicants language skills. At the same time he would be able to continue his work, which was of extreme importance to the Sponsor. ISL was successful in obtaining the 457 sponsorship and nomination for the sponsor, and currently is awaiting the outcome of the Applicants Subclass 457 visa.
